Paul Cooney

Based in Queensland, at ease collaborating with C-suite, Technical and non-Technical professionals, Paul has worked across multiple verticals as a Cyber Security Specialist within Australian Government Agencies, local government, the financial services sector and for a global vendor.

Having gained extensive practical experience in implementing cyber security solutions, Paul has delivered cyber security end to end from development, lifecycle management and continuous improvement of Information security management system (ISMS) to operational technologies with a collaborative, inclusive approach.

Paul is an expert lead in GRC (Governance, Risk and Compliance) implementation and is a Certified, experienced IRAP Assessor. He had led successful projects leading implementation of ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 ISMS including Risk Management ISO 31000 along with significant expertise with the PSPF, PCI-DSS, SOX, ASD E8 and NIST security frameworks developing policies, standards, and procedures across multiple industries.

Paul has been an important part of operational delivery of multiple cyber security implementation projects for cloud transition, digital transformation with SOCaaS, SIEM, VMS, firewall infrastructure, endpoint protection (CrowdStrike, Trend Micro) and SD-WAN technologies.

In between these roles Paul has carried out multiple training courses, including co-writing of PAN’s advanced troubleshooting course released in 2019 and development of Trend Micro courses.
